Growth & Community Groups
Our Growth and Community group schedules vary throughout the year. (check the online church calendar) We ask that people sign-up at the church or email us to be involved in a group. You do not need to be a member of the church to join a group. Yet, we pray that this simple step towards small group life will be the first step towards being an active part of the larger church body. We provide personal accountability for both Men and Women along with authentic community for families.
The purpose of this article is to show WHY we believe that meeting together outside the church walls, in smaller growth groups really matter.
When it comes to having godly vision and living out the mission, these three values reveal our primary focus:
Conversation. Transformation. Mission.
This is why we have church: Conversation. We believe in small group and community group ministry. The Conversation is about Jesus and what He’s done. It’s all about Him! This is why we have church: Transformation. We believe that people are changed as a result of meeting Jesus. They are not changed by my preferences, my politics or my position. They are transformed by Jesus. This is why we have church. Mission. We go where He sends us. We are called to go to those across the street and reach those across the world. We Must Go!
Conversation. Transformation. Mission.
Knowing these gives us (the Church) Purpose. Therefore, in our Church: we pray, prepare and believe that our Growth/Community Groups will equal Conversation + Transformation + Mission which reveals our purpose and in turn results in the Glory of God by Proclaiming the Gospel.
- At Grace, we are willing to do what it takes so that the “Conversation” will be simply heard, honestly understood and carefully followed by those who attend.
- At Grace, we willing to do what it takes so that the “Transformation” will be authentic, understood, measured and celebrated.
- At Grace, we are willing to do what it takes so that the “Mission” will be clear, focused, attainable, and followed.
At our church, we have asked the hard question, “How can we help people become followers of Jesus and be His disciple? How can we help them become more like Jesus?”
We believe that this is accomplished through our Growth and Community (GC) Groups. They are the PRIMARY vehicles for mentoring, growth and discipleship.
We gather in these groups with our friends and neighbors to live life together and experience the gospel in ways we can’t on our own. GC Groups are a place to tackle the truths of the Bible, love one another, serve others, and participate in the mission.
We need Community, we need one another. Authentic Community is found in and through our Conversation (who we talk about [Jesus] and what we talk about), which results in our Transformation (the change that comes from knowing Jesus) and Mission (following what we Jesus said in reaching our world). Then it all begins again [reproducing]. Talking-Changing-Going....We find purpose and meaning when we obey what is clearly laid out in Scripture.
This Description is not simply a destination (or an end), but rather it’s a PROCESS of GROWTH and sanctification that we are striving for, individually and collectively.
