Pastor Jason Stephens and his family
Jason was born in Greenwood, South Carolina, and grew up in nearby Greenville. His dad was on staff at the Tabernacle Baptist Church and School, where Dr. Harold Sightler was the pastor. When Jason was eleven years old he trusted Christ as his personal Savior. He was told by his parents that he had made a profession of faith at five years of age; however, at eleven he came under conviction and realized that he had never really trusted Christ. Jason's mom led him to the Lord, but it was not until several years later that he followed the Lord in believer’s baptism. (Because of his experiences, Pastor Jason encourages parents to speak with their children about the Lord and then give them time to come to know Him because God is at work in their lives, even when we do not see it!) When Jasonturned thirteen, his family moved to Walkertown, North Carolina, where his dad became principal of Gospel Light Christian School. While at Gospel Light Baptist Church, under the ministry Bobby and Steve Roberson, Jason was called to preach at the age of sixteen. Jason graduated from Gospel Light Christian School in 1992 and then attended Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville , Florida. While there he majored in Church and Youth Ministries and graduated in 1996. He has served as a Youth and Assistant Pastor for ten years before God led him to become pastor here in Windsor. Even though Jason now lives in UConn Country, he (and his family) passionately cheers for the University of North Carolina Tarheels!
Clare was born in Grove, England, which is outside of the famous city of Oxford. She lived there until her dad's job transferred their family to Boston. Clare was 8 years old when she moved to Maynard, Massachussetts. All of Clare's immediate family now lives in the United States, but her other relatives still live in England . Clare's family did not know Christ until someone knocked on their door and invited them to church. Since that time, all of Clare's immediate family has trusted Christ! Clare graduated from Twin City Christian School in Lunenburg , Massachussetts. Upon graduation she decided to attend Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville , Florida, where she majored in Elementary Education. Clare taught elementary school for 5 years and has also coached volleyball.
Jason and Clare met while attending college and were married six months after graduation. During their twelve years of ministry they have served in Connecticut, Georgia, and Florida. Jason and Clare have three young children.
